If you have unwanted wrinkles on your face and desire a more youthful appearance, Juvederm might be the solution you’re looking for. One of the best fillers on the market today, Juvederm has been perking smiles for over ten years and is one of the most trusted treatments to even out your fine lines!

How long do Juvederm fillers last?

Dermal fillers are surging in popularity because of their safety and effectiveness. These injectable fillers are injected into the skin to smooth out wrinkles. For the most part, dermal fillers are temporary because the solution is absorbed by the body.
Some of the best dermal fillers will last about a year, but some people only get about 4-6 months. Juvederm is one of the best dermal fillers on the market today.
Juvederm is a sterile gel that consists of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the body. Therefore, most people do not have reactions to Juvederm. The hyaluronic acid is made in a laboratory but contains no animal or human DNA and is FDA approved. Here are the types of issues that Juvederm works best for:
– Smoothing lines from lips to nose
– Smoothing lines from nose to chin
– Reducing frown lines and upper lip lines
– Adding volume and definition to the lips
– Restoring volume in the cheeks
– Concealing wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes
– Decreasing vein appearance by filling out the hands

Is Juvederm a good filler?

The most common side effects from Juvéderm include headaches, as well as lumps or bumps, bruising, discoloration, itching, pain, rash, and swelling at the injection site. More severe side effects include:
– A severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis
– Changes to skin color
– Infection
– Necrosis (death to surrounding tissues)
– Numbness
– Scarring
It’s important to schedule a consultation with your provider before booking a Juvéderm injection. They will go over any individual risk factors that could disqualify you from getting this dermal filler.

What should you not do after fillers?

Most patients have no problems after facial filler treatments.  Overall, it is extremely safe with very high satisfaction!  Fillers cannot always last as long as desired or improve wrinkles as much as hoped.  Fillers do not “get rid” of all your wrinkles.  Patients should expect “significant improvement” not complete wrinkle removal.  If the patient doesn’t get the results may want, often the answer is more filler. Here are some after-filler care tips to help you achieve the best results:

– Avoid touching, pressing, rubbing, or manipulating the implanted areas for at least 6 hours after treatment. This can cause irritation, sores, or possible scarring.
– Avoid rigorous exercise, sun, and heat exposure for at least 3 days after treatment.
– Avoid immersing your head under water for a minimum of 24 hours after treatment; including pools, beaches, bathtubs, and hot tubs.
– Keep away from blood-thinners like Aspirin and Motrin and avoid Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acid for at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment. Using these may increase bleeding and bruising.
– Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment. These items contribute to increased swelling, irritation, and other adverse effects.
– Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products for at least two days after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.
– Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials, or microdermabrasion for a minimum of two weeks after treatment.
– Avoid wearing any kind of makeup, especially lipstick until the day after treatment. Earlier use may cause pimples.
– Immediately report to your provider if you have increased pain, swelling, redness, blisters, or itching following your treatment.
– Ice the treated areas for the next 24 hours. Place the ice pack on the area for 20 minutes and remove the ice pack after 20 minutes. Continue this pattern for 24 hours.
– Please remember one side may heal faster than the other side.
